As cheesy as it is, Valentine’s Day is coming up! It may seem like a silly, made up holiday but it’s still fun to have an extra excuse to celebrate with your loved ones; whether it be your boyfriend, fiancé, husband, kids, or even your best friend. Here are some simple, budget friendly date ideas for a fun, love-filled day – or any day!
At Home Dinner & Movie
This is a go-to for me and my fiancé. It’s simple, can be pretty cheap, and we don’t have to leave the house! Restaurants are always ridiculously busy on Valentine’s Day so there’s almost no point in trying to enjoy a night out when you have to wait 2 hours just to get seated somewhere. Set up the table with some candles, play some music, and cook a yummy dinner for them or even together. Last year I made garlic knots and lasagna roll-ups and it’s been on our rotating dinner menu ever since. Finish the night off with a movie, and you’re set!
Stop & Go 3-Course Dinner
This could be a fun option if you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day on a different date, like the weekend. Start off your night at your first restaurant and just order appetizers or drinks (or both!). Move on to another restaurant to have your main course, then to a different restaurant for dessert. This is great when neither one of you can decide where you want to go, which you know happens 99% of the time. Try picking a spot where all of the restaurants are within walking distance so you don’t have to get in and out of your car.
Game nights are so much fun! Gather up your favorite board games, card games or even video games and order a pizza and get ready for a fun night. Our favorites games right now are Dirty Minds, 59 Seconds, and Atari Flashback 7 that my mom got my fiancé for Christmas.
I wrote about Datebox a couple of months ago and we still love it! It is seriously so much fun to get a box once a month that has your entire date planned out for you. Last month’s box came with everything to make homemade ice cream, a fun ice-breaker card game, and even a DVD with dance classes on it! We opened up this month’s box last week and it’s theme is “growth”. It comes with the supplies to make your own clay pots and seeds for an herb garden. It also comes with lemonade and candy to snack on. Super simple but it kinda forces you to take just a few hours out of the month to spend fun, quality time together.
Finding time to go out and enjoy yourself, your significant other, or even your best friend can be hard! Use Valentine’s Day as the perfect excuse to go out or stay in and have some fun! ❤ ♡ ❤ ♡ ❤ ♡ ❤ ♡
