Of course the majority of us are all on a diet for the new year, but one day we have to make an exception for is Super Bowl Sunday. How can you even celebrate game day without some good eats? Okay, maybe you can with some healthy alternatives, but for me the last game of the football season is a cheat day.
Sometimes, I’ll go all out and make an appetizer, entree, and dessert for game day. Other times, I’m all about finger foods and quick & easy treats, which is the kinda mood I’m in this year.
If you haven’t started planning out your game day eats for the Super Bowl, here are just a few of my favorite recipes I’m leaning towards.
While enjoying my lazy weekend on Saturday morning, I decided to have a Food Network marathon and The Pioneer Woman happened to be whipping up a few dishes for game night food. One of the recipes she happened to be making on this episode was pizza rolls from scratch and man, did they look delicious. Although I do love making food from scratch, I don’t think I want to spend all day in the kitchen so I won’t be following the marinara sauce recipe. What I’ll definitely be making is the dough from scratch while trying to decide on my favorite pizza toppings to add to these rolls. I cannot wait!
I stumbled upon this recipe one day while browsing through Pinterest. Now, it’s one of my go-to appetizers I always make when I need to whip something up that’s yummy and delicious at the last minute. The only change I make in this recipe is to the seasoning. I add all seasonings liberally until I’m happy with the taste (ground cumin is the main seasoning that makes this appetizer to die for). Once this dip is done, throw it on the table with a bag of Tostitos Scoops and you are good to go. It will be gone before you know it!
Everything I’ve made so far off of Damn Delicious’ blog is amazing, including this cheese ball which is to die for and so simple to make! I first made this as an easy appetizer for Thanksgiving last year and will definitely be making this again for game day, only this time I think I’ll try and make it into the shape of a football for the special occasion.
Spinach Artichoke Dip is one of my favorites, especially this recipe that me and Desiree came up with on one of our movie night get togethers. Our entire reason for creating this dish was mainly because a good spinach artichoke dip is hard to come by these days, whether dining out or picking up ready-made dip at the store. There’s nothing like home made dip. If you haven’t tried this recipe, you should definitely try it out this upcoming Super Bowl Sunday.
If you haven’t realized it yet, I’m not only a Food Network fan but I love The Pioneer Woman too. I hadn’t really made a decision on what type of dessert I was going to make for game day until I saw this. German chocolate cake mix, pecans, caramel chews, and chocolate chips in my book is a win; my mouth is even watering just thinking about these brownies. It may sound like a sugar overload but once I saw the end result I made an executive decision that I have got to make this for game day. Hurry up and get here game day!
With a little under a week left before Super Bowl Sunday it’s time to start planning out your game day menu. What are a few of your favorite dishes you’ll be making this Sunday? I’d love to hear a few new ideas to add to my recipe book.
