For some, August just downright sucks because not only is weather scorching hot (at least here in Texas) right now, but it’s also a rude awakening to everyone on Summer Break that a new semester is right around the corner. For those of us who work, August is just another month on the calendar. What we’re more concerned with is that it’s only Tuesday!
Rather than be bummed out about “Summer’s Sunday,” or the fact that it’s nowhere close to Friday, my mind is on all of the things I want to do, try, or see before the month is over.
1. The Night Of
For Nasir Khan, a joy ride with a beautiful stranger, followed by drinks, and a night in between the sheets is the opposite of what he had planned for the night, but worth every minute. Until, he wakes up to find the girl he just met brutally murdered and him as the prime suspect in her murder.
If you haven’t had the chance to check out this limited series on HBO, it’s definitely worth a watch. Not only will The Night Of have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end, it will make you realize how quickly one decision can change the rest of your life.
2. Stranger Things
What begins as a missing child case in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana soon turns into a hunt to find the terrifying truth behind a cover-up involving secret government experiments, the supernatural, and one gifted little girl.
When I first heard Netflix was releasing their first original sci-fi series, I couldn’t wait to watch it. What I didn’t expect was to binge watch this series as soon as it was released. If you’re a fan of 80’s pop culture, sci-fi, and classic horror films then you’ll love Stranger Things.
3. Glory – Britney Spears
Britney, Britney, where have you been?!?! Little secret of mine. I’m a huge fan of Britney Spears and have been impatiently waiting for her new album release for quite some time now. Although Glory won’t be available for purchase until August 26th on iTunes and Amazon, 3 new singles have already been released, which include Make Me, Private Show, and Clumsy. So hop on over to Spotify and check them out!
4. Spotify Sessions – Kacey Musgraves
In the mood for some acoustic country jams? Check out Kacey Musgraves recently released Spotfiy Sessions, sure to put you in great mood and get your morning started on the right foot. Every song in this jam session is great, but my absolute favorite is her cover of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy (currently on repeat)!
Working out on a regular basis is now a part of my everyday routine, which is a good thing. The only downside that I’ve run into is that I’m now prone to an occasional pimple or two as a result of sweating my ass off 5 times a week, so taking care of my skin is a must.
5. Say Bye Bye to Blemishes with Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick.
After reading an article on the top drugstore finds under $10, I decided to give Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick a try because nothing I’d been using up until this point had worked in dealing with my breakouts. Thanks to this product my skin is blemish free within a matter of days.
6. Soothe your skin with Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Facial Water.
Although I haven’t had the opportunity to try this product out just yet, it’s on my to-do list. From what I’ve read, Ole Henriksen’s Grease Relief Facial Water is considered one of the top 5 facial mists that delivers. This product helps reduce shine, can be sprayed on prior to applying makeup during the hot Summer days, and is great to use post workout to prevent breakouts. If any of you have tried this product, I’d love to hear what you think.
My favorite thing about August is all the new fashion trends that are going to dominate this upcoming Fall season. The top 2 musts that I have to have this season are a new pair of shoes and new handbag, because why not?
7. Olilidia Handbag – Aldo
Handbags are always a hard one for me. When it comes to handbags I’m very picky. At the moment my current purse is at the end of it’s life, but I can’t give it up just yet. At least, not until I find the perfect one for this upcoming season. So far, Aldo’s Olilidia tote is at the top of my list. Not only because of its soft, blush pink color that lends itself perfectly to Fall but because I can also add on a matching pom pom as an accessory. How cute is that?!?
8. Kristin Cavallari Georgie Suede Bootie – Chinese Laundry
I’ve had my eye on a few pairs of shoes by Chinese Laundry for quite some time, especially booties. I’m now on the fence on whether or not I should finally buy that pair of open toe booties I’ve been wanting or if I should invest in a new pair of chunky heel booties calling my name. Either way, it’s about time to make a decision before my favorites are sold out. If you’ve been undecided on whether or not you should buy that certain pair of shoes this month, go for it. After all, a new season is right around the corner. Do it!
9. Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW™ Pomade
These days, I’ve been on a beauty search for the perfect brow tool that will make my eyebrows look flawless. After watching DIPBROW’s video on how to apply brow pomade and finding out this is Desiree’s go-to product, it’s just a matter of me making the purchase. I can’t wait to try this!
10. Blackest Berry – Maybelline Color Sensational®
A change in season always mean a change in color, especially when it comes to lipsticks. During this time of year, we’re transitioning from bold and bright colors to more rich, plum tones, soft pinks hues, and nudes…with the occasional red. Although I have almost every color of the rainbow when it comes to lipsticks shades, I’m dying to try Maybelline’s new Color Sensational line in Blackest Berry so I can change things up a bit.
With half of August left and days before Friday is officially here, why not start marking a few things off your list of musts this month?
