This weekend is a nice 3 day holiday weekend for most of us. While celebrating Memorial Day and all the freedom we have, and chowing down on barbecue and other traditional snacks, why not do some crafting? There won’t be many outdoor activities to participate in anyway since the weather is looking pretty rainy.
DIY Pom-pom Sandals
I gathered some pom-pom trim, crazy glue, scissors and fabric glue (not pictured). First, I measured out the trim to match the straps I wanted them on. Then I layered the red and blue trim and used fabric glue to glue them together. I then used crazy glue to secure the trim to the sandal straps. The end result is amazing! Even better, they’re half the price!
You could pair these fun sandals with a maxi dress, skirt, skinny jeans, shorts, anything! They add just the perfect amount of color.
DIY Memorial Day Wreath
I’m always making different wreaths for my front door for every holiday. I even have a year round one. While at Walmart buying the sandals and trim, I decided to pick up some wreath-decorating materials to add a little Memorial Day spirit to our door. I always have a few blank grapevine wreaths at the house. Walmart has my absolute favorite and they’re only $5! All I needed to get were some patriotic flowers and something special to add.
I ended up finding a patriotic star that had two little bells hanging from it. Decorating a wreath is super simple and quick. I attached the flowers by wrapping floral wire over them. It’s not a permanent solution, which is great if I want to switch it up next year. The star I found already had wire to hang it so I just undid the wire and attached it to the wreath. Once again, simple yet adorable results!
For me, crafting is always a nice stress reliever and a great way to spend the day indoors on a rainy day. Enjoy the holiday weekend and be thankful for our freedom.
Happy Memorial Day!
